Thepa Engineering was established in 2007 by Mr Johannes Ketsise Litlhakanyane and it is a BEE compliant entity. He was later joined by Mr Sidney Litlhakanyane who holds 60% equity and Ms. Tsepiso Esther Mopeli who holds 40% stake, in order to maximize production of service delivery and to capacitate the business operation by utilizing the expertise of these two experienced individuals. The company is mainly focusing in the mining sector, government Eskom, Transnet, Telkom etc.
The company bids on contracts for new installations of structural equipment, commissioning and decommissioning, equipment supply and maintenance projects at all levels throughout the North West province. Thepa has vendor numbers with Lonmin and Xstrata Mines, with Lonmin being the biggest contributor. Mr Sidney Litlhakanyane has held various positions whilst working for Lonmin Platinum Mines, as an engineering/mechanical foreman, these positions required him to co-ordinate engineering functions such as maintenance of equipment, safe operation of machinery, cost controlling of engineering budgets and adherence to mine’s health, environment and safety.
Sidney also worked as relieving section engineering manager and environmental area representative. Mr Litlhakanyane also worked on various optimization projects as a conversations manager and project co-ordinator, equipping E2 sub decline from 7 level to shaft bottom, a project which was worth R2.4 million, reclamation project which yielded R1.8 million and mud recycling project which yielded R3.2 million all this at Lonmin.
In addition to his appointment as an engineering/mechanical foreman, Mr Sidney Litlhakanyane as also responsible for chairlift extension third legs at E1 and E2 respectively. extension of C8 conveyor and cross belts at E2, including conveyor belt installations at 10 and 14 levels.Construction, commissioning and handover of both trackless and track bound underground engineering workshops at safety shafts.
